How AI video editing works here

You chat with the assistant inside the editor. It reads a summary of your project — tracks, clips, durations, scenes and prompts — and answers with concrete edits rather than vague advice.

Edits are proposed as tool calls. You see exactly what will change and press Apply or Cancel. Prefer to hand over the wheel? Switch on auto mode and the assistant carries out a multi-step build on its own.

Every applied change is versioned and attributed to you or to the assistant, and the most recent operation can always be undone.

What the assistant can edit

  • Trim and split

    Cut clips to length or split them at a point on the timeline.

  • Move and duplicate

    Reposition clips, reorder them, or duplicate a clip.

  • Speed

    Change clip speed anywhere from −80% to +80%.

  • Volume

    Set volume per clip or per track.

  • Transitions

    Add crossfade, smooth blend, fade from black or fade to black, and adjust their duration.

  • Close gaps

    Remove dead space between clips on a track, one gap or all of them.

  • Batch edits

    Combine many edits into one call: one approval, one undo step.

  • Tracks and scenes

    Create, rename, reorder and delete tracks and scenes.

    Video and audio tracks with drag-to-move, trimming, splitting and zoom.

  • Preview player

    Scrub and play the timeline in the browser; Space toggles play and pause.

  • Fades and volume

    Editable fade durations and per-track volume.

  • Export

    Render a preview or a 1080p MP4 on a background worker.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AI change my project without asking?

Not by default. The assistant proposes the exact tool calls and waits for you to apply them. Only if you enable auto mode does it apply its own edits, and even then each one is versioned and undoable.

Does the assistant watch my footage?

No. It works from your project's structure — tracks, clip positions and durations, scenes and prompts — not from the pixels of your footage. Reference images you attach in chat are sent to the model so it can describe their style.

Which AI powers the assistant?

Claude models from Anthropic. Choose a model in Settings, and optionally add your own Anthropic API key so assistant messages don't use credits.

Is this a full replacement for a desktop editor?

It is a focused timeline editor for assembling, timing and transitioning clips — cuts, trims, speed, volume, fades and crossfades. It is not a colour-grading or visual-effects suite.

Can I undo what the assistant did?

Yes. Every operation is recorded, and the most recent one can be undone — whether you or the assistant made it.
